Oise: a clandestine sheep slaughterhouse discovered in Valois

This Sunday, around 1 p.m., walkers were alerted by suspicious comings and goings in front of a hangar in Boissy-Fresnoy, a village in Valois. Cars arrived and left almost immediately. Alerted, the gendarmes arrived on the scene shortly after and saw several individuals running away in all directions.

Inside, they discovered eleven sheep carcasses. The animals lie on the ground, their throats slit, partly hollowed out and cut up in this clandestine slaughterhouse. Veterinary services and a renderer were immediately contacted. Alongside the remains, thirty-three sheep escaped certain death thanks to the rapid intervention of the military. Several breeders have offered to recover them but they will be entrusted to the competent services of the prefecture. “Some animals seemed weakened and showed signs of illness. We had to decline help from local farmers so that the surviving sheep did not contaminate their livestock if a pathology was proven,” we explain to the gendarmerie. The animals were brought to safety.

The premises were placed under seal

While those responsible for the clandestine slaughterhouse are on the run, three people were intercepted by the military and questioned. They all come from the Paris region and do not seem to have a direct link with these facts. The investigators nevertheless recorded their identity and contact details in order to be able to contact them later.

According to the first elements of the investigation, the shed is rented for the year to a person who does not live on site and would use it to store DIY equipment. The police believe that the agricultural premises must have been sublet and are now looking for the tenant. The premises have been placed under seal so that further investigations can be carried out.
