Tour de Suisse: “fratricidal” duel between Yates and Almeida

The 2024 Tour de Suisse will deliver its verdict on Sunday afternoon on the road leading to Villars-sur-Ollon. The final victory will not escape the all-powerful Team UAE.

Adam Yates, leader of the general standings, and Joâo Almeida have in fact been flying over the debates since the start of serious things, that is to say since the 4th stage which concluded at the Gotthard pass. The Briton won the 5th and 7th stages in front of his teammate, the Portuguese winning the 6th stage in front of Yates.

The two men are separated by only 31 seconds before the 8th and final stage, a 15.7 km hill time trial which will start at the World Cycling Center in Aigle. Third overall at 1’51, Egan Bernal will be content with the role of spectator on Sunday in this “fratricidal” duel.

A duel which, however, promises to be unbalanced, according to Adam Yates: “João is super strong in the time trial. I estimate that he can take me back for up to a minute” on Sunday, estimated the Briton on Saturday evening in Villars-sur-Ollon.
