Before his meeting in Tonneins, this Sunday, November 10, Jordan Bardella, leading figure of the National Rally, went to a farm in Virazeil.

A few days before a new wave of large-scale agricultural demonstrations, Jordan Bardella, MEP and president of the National Rally (RN), went to Lot-et-Garonne this Sunday, November 10, to meet some local farmers. Ahead of his meeting in Tonneins, which took place in front of more than 2,000 people, the boss of the RN made a detour to the cereal farm of Vincent Rigo, in Virazeil.

Welcomed by several executives of the far-right party in the South-West, notably the deputies Hélène Laporte (Lot-et-Garonne), Edwige Diaz () and Nadine Lechon (Dordogne), Jordan Bardella arrived on conquered ground in a department which had voted overwhelmingly for him in the last European elections. And his operation to seduce farmers, a few days before a major mobilization of the agricultural world, bore fruit.

“Jordan, you are our last hope”

“We don’t always welcome political figures so well in Lot-et-Garonne. Remember Marine Tondelier”, pointed out Serge Bousquet-Cassagne, president of the Chamber of Agriculture of Lot-et-Garonne, who had made the trip and expressed his confidence in the elected representative of the National Rally. “We don’t expect you to be the messiah, but not far off. You are our last hope,” Serge Bousquet-Cassagne told him.

During his visit, followed by dozens of local and national media, the head of the RN was also able to meet several farmers from the Rural Coordination, in particular Patrick Franken, candidate for president of the Chamber of Agriculture, and the co-presidents of CR 47 Karine Duc and José Perez. The latter spoke at length with the MEP in front of the cameras. “We came to convey our demands to a leading political figure, we are not here because he is from the RN. The amalgamation between RN and CR 47 is very annoying and aims not to talk about the substance of what we are demanding,” Karine Duc insisted, adding that she did not go to the meeting a few hours later in Tonneins.

“A lot of empathy and anger”

Bardella was able to see the level of anger among Lot-et-Garonnais farmers. “We intend to turn the tables on November 19. Because we were not listened to,” said the Duc-Perez pairs. “Nothing has changed since our last demonstrations,” added Vincent Rigo, farmer from CR 47. “You think it amuses us to go and demonstrate, to annoy people, to spend nights defending ourselves to obtain nothing behind. It's disappointing and annoying. Today, farmers are in such a state that it will be hard to contain the anger. You will see it in the days to come. »

“We have not always welcomed political figures in the same way in Lot-et-Garonne. Remember @marinetondelier“. Serge Bousquet-Cassagne, CEO of the Chamber of Agriculture of 47, expresses his confidence in @J_Bardella. “You are not expected like Messi but not far pic.twitter.com/QGpLRzud3e

“There is a lot of empathy and anger about the situation of our farmers,” responded Jordan Bardella. “Because the measures that have been demanded for months and months are always the same and are not taken into account. » Embracing the Mercosur agreement, “which will be a catastrophe for French agriculture”.
