Throughout the month of June, on a specific sector of the A2 motorway in the North, between Cambrai and Valenciennes, major road works will seriously disrupt motorway traffic. The area should be avoided.
Two periods of work on the A2 motorway will last until June 28 in the Douchy-les-Mines, Hordain, Lieu-St-Amand and Neuville-sur-Escaut sector in the North.
The first, between Sunday June 2 at 9 p.m. and Friday June 14 at 6 a.m., consisted of work (day and night) on the roadway, sanitation and engineering structures.
The second period will take place from Sunday June 16 at 9 p.m. until Friday June 28 at 6 a.m. The Northern Interdepartmental Roads Directorate (DIR) specifies that, over this period of time, access to Stellantis will be via interchange no. 15 (Cambrai / Hordain).
Be patient for motorway users
Traffic restrictions, depending on the work zone, will be applied on speed (reduced to 110, 90, 70 or 50 km/h in both directions of traffic), with sometimes a total shift of traffic to the left lane in the opposite direction for several kilometers, the temporary closure of interchanges and ramps. Diversions will be put in place.
The DIR Nord is carrying out these projects as part of its network maintenance program. It invites users to change their route and avoid peak hours in the area during this period, given the expected peak in congestion.
