In Ferques, an impressive accident costs the life of a 5-year-old girl

Shortly after 8:30 a.m. this morning Saturday June 15, 2024A road accident caused several injuries, Ferquesin the Pas-de-Calais. Two children notably, one of which was in heart failure when help arrived. The voice of the North indicates that the girl, aged 5, succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

It was on the D231 that this accident took place, between two cars. The firefighters, who intervened on site, had to extricate 3 people from the vehicles. Traffic was blocked during the intervention.

Sdis, Departmental Fire and Rescue Service, reports that rescuers found four victims: a woman, aged 27, seriously injured, incarcerated, who was airlifted to the CHR Lille. A young girl aged 11, in a relative emergency, who found herself trapped in the vehicle, was once released and transported by the Smur vehicle to the Boulogne hospital center.

In the other vehicle a man, aged 64, was found, seriously injured, incarcerated. Once extracted from the car, he was transported to the Boulogne CH as well. A 5-year-old girl was in cardio-respiratory arrest when emergency services arrived. “The resuscitation measures provided in collaboration with the SMUR doctor made it possible to recover cardiac activity,” reports the Sdis. She was transported to the CHR in Lille, her vital prognosis being in jeopardy. However, she did not survive, our colleagues report.

Four witnesses to the accident, including one who provided first aid to the 5-year-old girl, were seen by the firefighter nurse. They were taken care of by the medico-psychological emergency unit.
