A wing dedicated to mutual aid will be added to the rear of the Patro Laval building on Bigaouette Street. The Saint-Sauveur neighborhood community organization wants to begin work in the fall, thanks in particular to financial support from Ottawa and the support of other partners, including Quebec City and Desjardins. The NPO is now seeking help from the provincial government to complete the $2M financial package.

“A major innovation project” for Patro Laval

Unveiled at a press conference Friday afternoon in the organization’s gymnasium, the project Living our help together will provide more space for employees to work better and offer new customer services in lower town.

“This is a major innovation project,” summarized the chairman of the board of directors Louis-André Marceau.

The organization will thus add “a new wing of 6,300 square feet” to its building on rue Bigaouette. This new living environment will be both welcoming and discreet. People will be able to find different types of help there, with respect, including in matters of food safety.

The planned expansion will therefore take place from the rear of the Patro Laval building.

Present on site for the occasion, Jean-Yves Duclos, announced an investment of $850,000 from the Canadian government via the program for greener and more inclusive buildings. Thanks to the modernization of its infrastructure, the NPO, which has been bringing good to its community since 1910, will be able to “continue to do it well”, underlined the federal Liberal MP from Quebec.

“All of this is possible because Patro Laval is a story marked by an incredible presence in Quebec City, but also a future that looks even more promising. »

For its part, the Municipality will contribute a minimum of $100,000 to the initiative, indicated the councilor responsible for social and community development on the executive committee, Marie-Pierre Boucher.

“This redevelopment will allow Patro Laval to offer an environment that is even more welcoming, functional and adapted to the new emerging needs of users,” greeted the strong and proud elected official from Quebec.

The solidarity deputy for Taschereau, Étienne Grandmont, is committed to convincing the provincial to invest in the Patro Laval project.

“We are working very hard on this, you are counting on me, so that we obtain this very important share from the government of Quebec. »

Currently, “there remains approximately $500,000” to be secured, according to the president of the organization. The development concept also results from “an architectural competition carried out at Laval University”.

“It allowed us to involve young people in the project,” added Louis-André Marceau.
