Nearly 70 people organized a hunt in the morning this Friday, June 14 to find Emilio Ruffoni, in Château-Ville-Vieille (Hautes-Alpes). The 71-year-old man has been missing since Wednesday June 12.

His friends, his family, his neighbors and even the gendarmerie: nearly 70 people gathered to go looking for Emilio Ruffoni, this Friday, June 14, in Château-Ville-Vieille (Hautes-Alpes).

The 71-year-old man has been missing since Wednesday June 12. He wore a red checkered shirt, a green vest and jeans. His car has remained there since his disappearance. An investigation was opened and a call for witnesses was launched.

A trace spotted by the dogs

With emotion and hope, his loved ones traveled through the forest above the village to try to find the trail of the septuagenarian. Drones and a helicopter flew over the Guil River.

According to information from the gendarmes, search dogs followed a track near the river. The different sectors are studied according to the habits of the missing person as well as the statements of relatives.

Carried away by the Guil?

If the possibility of drowning in the Guil is not excluded, it is, for the moment, not confirmed by the investigation. The intensity of the river’s current does not allow kayakers to descend in search of clues.

”In 1947, I lost my father due to the great floods. He was the only death that year and we found him further down in Ventavon (106.3 kilometers to the southwest, editor’s note). This story reminds me of my father”, testifies to BFM DICI René, who came to the hunt.

The searches carried out this Friday did not make it possible to find any trace of Emilio Ruffoni. Others will continue in the coming days.
