On Wednesday, November 6, at the Mortainais territorial center, a public meeting took place which brought together 48 participants. This meeting saw the presence of Jean-Marie Guérin, from the Rural Territories Equipment Directorate (DETR), the landscaper Caroline Poder from the Poder firm, as well as Hervé Desserouer and Jean-Paul Briend, respectively mayor of Mortain- Bocage and deputy mayor of Mortain. The main objective of this meeting was to discuss development projects for the streets of Clos-Neuf and Rue de Versailles.

Concerning rue du Clos-Neuf, several objectives have been established with the aim of improving the safety and comfort of users. Among these, “the creation of secure pedestrian paths has been highlighted, in order to guarantee the safety of pedestrians and to encourage travel on foot, developed Jean-Marie Guérin. The identification of parking spaces reserved for local residents is also planned, which will respond to a need expressed by residents.” The addition of green spaces is another essential aspect of the project, aiming to beautify the neighborhood while promoting local biodiversity. A secure development of the intersection with rue des Houx was also discussed to ensure smooth and safe traffic. “In addition, the implementation of cycle facilities is envisaged to encourage the use of bicycles, as well as measures intended to calm traffic and reduce speeds. »
The meeting also discussed the developments planned for rue de Versailles. Participants stressed the need to secure pedestrians, in particular by creating clearly identified crossing zones. Another crucial point was maintaining the view of the large surrounding landscape, an element dear to the residents. Rainwater management was also a major subject of discussion, representing a key issue in guaranteeing the sustainability of developments and avoiding flooding problems. “The goal is not to find ourselves in the situation that Valencia experienced with the floods and to fight against global warming,” underlined Hervé Desserouer.

This meeting made it possible to collect opinions and suggestions from participants. The discussions were fruitful and made it possible to better understand residents' expectations in terms of town planning. The elected officials present expressed their desire to create coherent and environmentally friendly town planning, by integrating citizens' concerns into development projects.
