The Mauritanian Minister of Economy and Finance, Sid’Ahmed Ould Bouh, and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Florian Rendell, signed, Thursday in Nouakchott, a cooperation agreement for the financing of the support for the implementation of the National Fisheries Sector Strategy for a budget of twenty million euros.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Ould Bouh indicated that the fishing sector represents one of the most important pillars of economic growth, food security and employment in Mauritania, stressing that this financing will support the sustainable management of marine resources and will contribute in particular to protecting the sea and the coastline against pollution.

For his part, the German diplomat noted that this agreement is part of the strengthening of cooperative relations between Germany and Mauritania.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the Mauritanian Minister of Fisheries and Maritime and Port Infrastructure, as well as several officials from the two ministerial departments.
