The Capital Transport Network (RTC) imposed a three-month suspension without pay on the president of the union that represents its drivers, Hélène Fortin, following an administrative investigation.

Ms. Fortin is the head of the Union of Public Transport Employees of Metropolitan Quebec (SETPQM). The facts with which the employer is accused have not been made public.

On Wednesday, the union executive distributed a memo to its members to advise them of the situation.

The employer recently conducted an administrative investigation targeting the union president […] The resulting sanction is a three-month disciplinary suspension without pay.we can read in the communication.

General assembly

The executive of SETPQM claims to disagree with several elements contained in the report which was written following the investigation. He says he studies possible remedies.

Stay tuned, a general meeting will be convened as soon as possible to take stockspecifies the union for the attention of its 935 members.

Furthermore, according to our information, other employees of the RTC are subject to disciplinary measures as part of another investigation separate from that targeting the president of the SETPQM.

Neither the union nor the RTC did not want to comment on the matter. Radio-Canada tried to contact Hélène Fortin. As of this writing, she has not yet called us back.
