An investigation has been opened into threats of attack targeting the principal of the Jean-Jacques Rousseau college in Thonon-les-Bainswe learned this Friday from consistent sources. The alert was given Thursday evening around 8 p.m. after messages received by college students on Snapchat. According to our information, these messages suggested a targeted attack “on the principal and on students”.
Enhanced security
Classes were able to take place normally this Friday and the college was not evacuated. But a security system has been put in place around the establishment, which has more than 800 studentswith a reinforced police presence throughout the day, and a systematic search of bags. This system will be renewed Tuesday morning for the resumption of classes.
Contacted by France Bleu Pays de Savoie, the Thonon-les-Bains public prosecutor's office confirms that following these threats evoking an attack in a school environment, an investigation was opened and entrusted to the judicial police. A listening cell was set up within the establishment by the Rectorate, which took the matter very seriously.
