An executive from the Mali team decided to try a new experience after more than six seasons spent in France.
Arriving almost halfway through the Ligue 2 season, with indisputable status (14 appearances for 13 starts), Mamadou Fofana will leave Amiens during the winter transfer window. The 26-year-old central defender will join the New England Revolution in Boston, in MLS, next January, informs The Team.
International Malian 42 times for a single goal scored, the native of Bamako signed up for three years, a season and a half from the end of his contract in the Somme – this expired in June 2026. The Amiens club fell from agreement with his Massachusetts counterpart on a direct transfer of 1.7 million euros.
Fofana and the colony of Ghanaians
He will join the small colony of Africans and Ghanaians of Jonathan Mensah, Josh Bolma and Emmanuel Boateng. The opportunity to discover a new environment after a season and a half spent in Türkiye, at Alanyaspor and Bandirmaspor, as well as six and a half seasons in France.

Under the Picardy club jersey, Fofana played 121 matches, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Author of continuous progress with the Whites since his arrival, his best ranking remains eighth place in the previous vintage. Two years earlier, he had helped reach the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.
