The President of the Somme Departmental Council Stéphane Haussoulier welcomed government spokesperson Maud Brégeon on Friday November 8 to the Unither Pharmaceuticals company site, located in the northern industrial zone of Amiens.
Specialized in the manufacturing and packaging of single doses, the company founded in Amiens in 1993, is now the world leader in subcontracted manufacturing of pharmaceutical products. Unither Pharmaceuticals has 400 employees in Amiens and plans to create two hundred additional jobs.
Unfortunately, the industrial and technological fabric of the department “contains some gray areas or concerns“, as Stéphane Haussoulier recalls in a letter addressed to Antoine Armand, Minister of the Economy, Finance and Industry.
Recalling the trauma of the closure of the Goodyear factory in Amiens”which resulted in 1,143 layoffs” lOn January 22, 2014, the president of the Somme Departmental Council urged the minister to wear a “very close attention to the files mentioned and to all those which could arise, as was the case, for the government during the year 2024, with the resumption of industrial, commercial and research activities of the METEX factory (.. .) which allows the maintenance of 315 jobs according to [repreneur le] April group“.
During her visit Maud Brégeon met union representatives, notably from Watts, whose production will be relocated to Bulgaria. The government spokesperson affirmed that “when we give public money massively to companies and they make this type of decision, we have the right to turn around and ask them to account“and got involved”to bring up everything that [serait] told the Prime Minister“.
