Newly elected MEP, lawyer Sylvie Josserand is running for the sixth constituency.

Unsurprisingly, the four outgoing Gard deputies are each running again in their constituency: Yoann Gillet (1st), Nicolas Meizonnet (2nd), Pascale Bordes (3rd) and Pierre Meurin (4th). “We are aiming for the grand slam, we intend to win the six constituencies in Gard. We have the capacity to turn around the country three years earlier than expected”, announces Yoann Gillet. To try to conquer the two other missing constituencies, the far-right party has decided to change candidates compared to 2022.

In the sixth, Laurence Gardet must be content with a role of substitute behind Sylvie Josserand. The famous lawyer from Nîmes has just been elected European deputy and has therefore decided to try her luck on the national level. “My expertise as a lawyer will be more useful at the national level”confides the person concerned (see video below) who plans, in the event of victory, to sit in the National Assembly and not in the European Parliament.

In this most recent Gard constituency which brings together three cantons of Nîmes and those of Uzès and Marguerittes, the ballot is open. Philippe Berta, the outgoing deputy from the majority and elected since 2017, chose not to run again, leaving his place to his lesser-known deputy Aurélien Colson. Two years ago, the RN candidate failed with 89 votes in the second round behind Nicolas Cadène (Nupes) and Philippe Berta.

Duels between the Left and the RN expected

In the 5th, where the challenge undoubtedly promises to be more complicated, the suspense concerning the chosen candidate remains intact. A candidate from an LR/RN agreement? “It’s not impossible”, says Julien Sanchez, leaving doubt. In 2022, Jean-Marie Launay was beaten by 2,600 votes in the second round by Michel Sala (Nupes). It remains to be seen who the candidates of the United Left, the new Popular Front, will be, with duels against the RN looming.

“We can win the legislative elections. Macron and his friends have not yet understood that they cannot do anything against the progress of the RN. The Renaissance candidates will not be in the second round for the most part. There will be in many constituency of the duels between the Left Hamas Nupes Mélenchon and the RN and its allies”concludes Julien Sanchez.
