This is a significant amount. The elected representatives of the Occitanie Region, meeting in a Permanent Commission on October 18, 2024, under the presidency of Carole Delga, voted to grant an envelope of 31 M€, for the construction of the tram line 5 of the Montpellier Metropolis. This line, the central section of which was completed in 2016, will connect Clapiers to Lavérune, via Montferrier-sur-Lez, Prades, Saint-Jean-de-Védas. Twenty-seven stations will thus see the light of day. The north and southwest parts will be put into service in the last half of 2025.
616 files supported by the Occitanie Region
This is not the only subsidy that was voted on October 18. In total, in Hérault, 616 dossiers will receive regional aid representing a total amount of 60 M€. HAS Lunel-Viel, for example, the Region grants €264,00, for de-waterproof and revegetate the school playground primary and its immediate surroundings. The work is scheduled for the summer of 2025, during the school holidays.
Another development supported by the Region: the future town hall of Lansargues. The current building, built in 1982, is today unsuitable for a population that has doubled. The transfer is planned in a mansion in the city center, but arrangements are necessary to accommodate all audiences. A elevator and an exterior ramp must be installed, among other things. In this context, €22,500 is granted.
Tourism in a good place in Occitania
HAS Cambon-et-Salvergues, the water mill will return to service. To avoid seeing the building dating from the 17th century disappeare century, the town of Cambon-et-Salvergues bought it. She plans to restore it to working order to reinstall a miller and open a museum-cum-shop. The Occitanie Region was seduced by this nice way of promoting a short circuit sector and tourism, in the heart of Haut-Languedoc regional natural park. An envelope of €100,000 has been allocated.
The Occitanie Region will also support the Bath of Youth O'Balia to Balaruc-les-Bains. The first Mediterranean thermal SPA, which welcomes 80,000 visitors per year, needs to be rehabilitated and expanded after 14 years of operation. At the’fall 2026, the new O’Balia will house a pool with a panoramic roof, six experiential pools and a village of saunas and hammams. No amount of aid has been specified for this project. The elected officials simply announced that “the Region will strongly support this project which will boost the’activity of the establishment for the benefit of the local economy and the’job”.
