Jean-François Zygel, pianist and improviser, gives a unique concert in Sallanches on Friday November 15. Before this performance, an improvisation workshop open to the public will take place the day before, on November 14, an immersion in musical creativity.
Jean-François Zygel, pianist and master of improvisation, is in concert in Sallanches on November 15 at the Léon Curral hall at 8 p.m.. He draws inspiration from his environment to create unique and ephemeral performances.
He walks around the city to soak up its atmosphere, observing nature, buildings and even Mont Blanc. Every detail, from a bird song to a chime, can influence his music. For him, improvising means visually and emotionally translating what he feels into notes.
Before his concert, an improvisation workshop will be held on November 14 at the same place. Intended for the public curious to understand the art of improvisation, it will be an opportunity to discover how Jean-François Zygel transforms his inspiration into spontaneous compositions. Improvisation, as he explains, requires accumulated knowledge and daily practice. A teacher at the Paris Conservatory, he emphasizes that musical improvisation, far from being an invention without preparation, is based on solid technical foundations and an openness to various musical genres.
