Sea. The city is going green… This is a first in Loir-et-Cher. Since Monday, the town has displayed its commitment to “green gas” on town entrance signs. The latter, aimed at promoting the production and consumption of “local” energy, were unveiled by Mayor Vincent Robin, and GRDF territorial delegate Sylvaine Loosveldt.

“It is with pride that the “City committed to green gas” signage is displayed at the entrances to the town. For the region, this action has a double interest: that of participating in the notoriety of this renewable energy which is still sometimes unknown, and of marking our commitment to contribute, particularly alongside farmers, to a circular economy dynamic allowing the transformation of waste into a resource for the territory,” underlined Vincent Robin.

More than 30% of the gas consumed at Mer is renewable gas, produced locally by farmers at the Biogaz methanization site. In summer, green gas production is even higher than local consumption; the surplus then benefits the neighboring municipalities of Agglopolys.

“With the rise of green gas, the gas network is an essential link in the ecological transition and directly contributes to the decarbonization of energy uses,” concluded Sylvaine Loosveldt.

Practical. GRDF will be on call at the town hall on Friday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and at the market on Sunday June 16.
