EDF has revealed some figures concerning its establishment in Meuse and Haute-Marne to support the development of Cigéo. Investment for some, “colonization of minds by money” for the others, the opponents of Cigéo in particular, the energy company simply announces that it is approaching a billion investment in Meuse Haute-Marne. But how does it count? In fact, EDF counts everything, including the two GIPs, one in Meuse and the other in Haute-Marne, supplemented by a fund of around 30 million euros each. And it is EDF which pays the largest part, the rest being the responsibility of the other producers of nuclear waste, namely Orano and the CEA.
“A little less than 200 million were directly financed, particularly in the creation and development of the logistics and nuclear maintenance center; a little more than 800 million were financed via the two GIPs”then specifies Marc Poinsignon, the economic development director of the Cigéo project.

There are four logistics centers. First of all, the Velaines en Meuse site for the storage of spare parts for the French nuclear fleet where more than 90 million euros have been invested.
