2 new international medals for this company from Lot-et-Garonne

“I had known about it for a month. But today, I can announce it. Two of our oils, virgin organic Safflower oil and plum almond oil, were awarded the Gourmet d’ silver at the last international “Huiles du monde” competition in Paris,” comments Nathalie Barrère, head of the company based at the foot of Pujols, Perles de Gascogne.

If plum almond oil is regularly awarded awards, “which is proof of the regularity of our oil and a great reward from professionals for the know-how of my collaborators”, Safflower oil is a novelty. “We launched this oil a year ago. We worked well on it and we presented it this year. It has excellent nutritional properties, especially with our production method, that is to say pressed at cold, but also qualities in cosmetics or as massage oil”.

But once the competition is over, the euphoria quickly subsides and Nathalie Barrère is already talking about the future. “We just launched a new oil at the beginning of April. It’s Chia oil.” Chia, this seed which, in recent years, has enjoyed enormous success with consumers for its health benefits. “A sector for the cultivation of this plant is developing in our regions of the south of France. It is very interesting because the seed is richest in Omega 3. This is why we decided to work on it because our manufacturing process involves cold pressing which allows all the nutrients of the seeds to be preserved. It is an oil, due to the strong presence of Omega 3 which is good for health, and it is quite neutral in taste. but also for the manufacture of cosmetics. We will see the reactions of professionals likely to use it.

In fact, since 2018, Perles de Gascogne oils have already obtained 16 international awards. “If we have reached this level of quality, it is thanks to the work of an entire team. It is together that we have come this far.”
