Police officers intervened in his apartment after a call received from worried neighbors. On site, they picked up two children aged 3 and 5 who had been left alone while their mother had gone shopping.

The Saint-Étienne (Loire) police officers intervened on Tuesday November 5, 2024 in a home after an alert given by neighbors. The latter became worried after hearing the repeated cries of children in an apartment, reports Progress . When they arrived on the scene shortly after 9 p.m., the police discovered two children aged 3 and 5, abandoned. They were crying on the couch, says France Blue Saint-Étienne-Loire .
Children entrusted to their father
The police managed to find the number of the mother of the two children, aged 26. Contacted by officials, she explained that she had been absent to go shopping. Returning to the accommodation an hour later, she was arrested for “abandonment of minors”. The toddlers, in good health, were entrusted to their father.
According to LégiFrance, the abandonment of a minor under fifteen years of age can be punished by seven years of imprisonment and a fine of €100,000. “unless the circumstances of the abandonment made it possible to ensure the health and safety of the latter”.
