In order to maintain the Aude River crossing Coursan, the City asked the main managers of the site, the State, the SMDA, the Department and the SNCF, to clean the part between the upstream of the SNCF bridge and downstream of the national road bridge. The Department thus cleaned the lands located in the river bed, at the level of the RN bridge, on the right bank side, clearing and pruning followed by cleaning as well as the clearance of an arch of the bridge. The SNCF will very soon clean the part which is its responsibility and, on the right bank, between the national bridge and the MJC, the SMDA will prune the trees. The State for its part, owner of the left bank, which intervened a couple of years ago to prune the trees, will not intervene this time, assessing that the current trees do not prevent the flow and what is more, root and strengthen the bank.
“Global warming and the disasters it generates concern us, this work aims to avoid the worsening of possible floods and must ensure good water flow conditions” said the first magistrate, Édouard Rocher.
