After a Halloween weekend marked by violence, Alexandre Vincendet, mayor of Rillieux-la-Pape, addressed the Minister of the Interior and demanded exemplary sanctions.
On October 31 and November 1, the town of Rillieux-la-Pape was the scene of significant urban violence, with two buses burned, five vehicles on fire and several public facilities damaged. Seven people were arrested for these acts, most of them minors aged 13 to 17.
This Monday, November 4, faced with these events, Alexandre Vincendet, mayor of the town, sent a letter to Bruno Retailleau, Minister of the Interior. In this letter, he denounces “recurring insecurity” and the “suspension of 5 bus lines for 8 days”a decision taken by SYTRAL and which it describes as“unfair”recalling that more than “30,000 residents are taken hostage”.
The mayor of Rillieux-la-Pape wants firm measures to stop this phenomenon. In particular the repeal of the 1945 ordinance relating to delinquent children, the abolition of social assistance for families of repeat minors and the expulsion of these families from their social housing. “The situation must change”declares the city councilor on X. According to him, current doctrines “must no longer be based on understanding, compensation and excuse”but on accountability and respect for the rules of life in society.
Finally, Alexandre Vincendet calls for an overhaul of the treatment of young delinquents, denouncing the ineffectiveness of current monitoring measures. He asks Bruno Retailleau to take “strong decisions and actions to stop this spiral of inefficiency and irresponsibility”.
