Cyclists, pedestrians, bikers… In 2023, 33 people died in the streets of Paris following a road accident. Non-compliance, unconsciousness or ignorance of the Highway Code and road sharing lead to tragedies. If the ring road has the greatest number of fatal collisions, certain districts of the capital are revealing themselves more dangerous than others. The national interministerial road safety observatory has published a map of accidents occurring in 2023.

Same month and same neighborhood

On the map, the north of Paris is widely distinguished from the south where fatal accidents are fewer. In the 17th and 19ththe victims are particularly numerous.

In the 17th arrondissement, the month of January 2023 was, for example, marked by two deaths. Rue de la Montenotte, a 77-year-old woman died after an accident with a 31-year-old motorcyclist. Two days later, the driver of a two-wheeler also succumbed to his injuries after an accident at Porte d'Asnières.

The 19th arrondissement was more affected by this type of tragedy in 2023. In January, March, August, September, November and December, six pedestrians and a cyclist died in this district. On September 3, a thirty-year-old man was hit by a car on Macdonald Boulevard. Two days lateranother pedestrian died following an impact with a truck on Boulevard de la Villette. A few months earlier, in March, a woman was also the victim of a van a few meters away, rue de Belleville (20th).

Conversely, the 16th arrondissement has not experienced no serious accident last year, just like the districts of central Paris. In the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th no casualties were reported.
