The meeting with Pauline took place on Wednesday November 6, during the filming of a report, on the occasion of the national day against school bullying, in a college near Mulhouse. The twelve-year-old girl is in fifth grade. “It's really something sad for the person who is harassed, she emphasizes. Sometimes she no longer wants to go to school. Sometimes, she really wants to kill herself and this happens very often. We really should stop all this so that everyone can live in their own way, whether we are different or not.” says the young girl.
Pauline knows what she is talking about. She explains that she was harassed by one of her classmates when she was in primary school. “It was jealousy. When I wanted to talk to a friend, she always wanted to push me. She didn't want me to have friends anymore. She wanted me to be alone“says the schoolgirl, very moved. She explains that she did not want “no longer go to school” to stop enduring this situation.
The importance of being supported
“At one point I screamed, I couldn't take it anymore and I said it. It happened in class, but I couldn't take it anymore. That's how we were able to resolve everything.”continues Pauline at the microphone of France Bleu Alsace. After this event, his parents and those of his classmate were summoned by the school management.
Today, Pauline particularly remembers the importance of speaking and being supported by other students. “We’re still doing a lot of things today (to fight against harassment). It's just that the person who is being harassed doesn't think to say it and they withdraw.”continues the teenager. “Whether they are friends or people she doesn't know, you still have to that someone is there to help him“sighs Pauline. For the schoolgirl, “If everyone is harassed and no one talks about it, we won't be able to do it anymore.”
