One in three rural mayors is on the verge of exhaustion.

This is the result of a study carried out by the Amarok Observatory, in collaboration with the Association of Rural Mayors of (AMRF).

With his 236 habitants at the last census, Saint-Christophe-de-Valains is one of the most small towns from the country of Fougères (Ille-et-Vilaine). Michelle Garavaglia took the lead in 2020. Four years later she still wears the scarf tricolor with the smile and the tense context in which she was elected is far behind her.

Two dedicated days per week

“I have a lot of satisfaction to see that the inhabitants are indeed in Saint-Christophe-de-Valains. I appreciate enormously, too, when people walk around here and find it to be a belle common,” she slips.

As for being a femmeMichelle Garavaglia does not see it as a difficulty additional. “If there is a problem, gendarmes told me not to go alone, not to get in the way danger. I know I can turn to them so it's reassuring. »
