Senegal intensifies its support for the cinema and arts sector

The Secretary of State for Culture, Creative Industries and Historical Heritage, Bakary Sarr, affirmed the commitment of the State of Senegal to strengthen its support for actors in the cinema and art sector. This support is provided by the Cinematography Department and FOPICA, under the leadership of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and his Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.

Bakary Sarr specified that this support aims to stabilize and promote the cinema and art sector in general, thus allowing young creators to benefit from the opportunities offered to make a career in this field.

These statements were made during the closing ceremony of the 5th edition of the Saint-Louis international short film gala, which was held from June 5 to 8. Bakary Sarr expressed his satisfaction at participating in this event, emphasizing that the public had the opportunity to evaluate numerous artistic productions and select the best films, testifying to the depth and breadth of artistic creativity.

Dr Gora Seck, teacher-researcher at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis and organizer of this festival, praised the level reached by the event and welcomed the presence of the public. He worked with a team including students to ensure the success of this event.

Aïssatou Ndiaye Gaye, film student at UGB and director of the film “The First Name”, winner of 2nd prize at this international short film gala, expressed her pride and satisfaction for this award.
