Flights “strongly disrupted” by a strike at Nantes airport on November 6

On its website, airport announces that flights will be “severely disrupted” this Wednesday, November 6. These disruptions are due to a social movement launched by firefighters, whose presence on the runway is mandatory to ensure the operation of the airport.

The CGT AGO union has filed a strike notice for all 36 aircraft rescue and firefighting service (SSLIA) agents, from Tuesday November 5 until December 31. They are demanding hiring, a rebalancing of salaries, recognition of their seniority and a discussion on the end of their career. The airport management invites travelers to obtain information from their company or on the website before going to the airport.

This social movement comes as the airport is organizing, this Wednesday, November 6, a civil security exercise, between 5:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. which should involve 700 people, first aiders, civil security associations, law enforcement, communities, the public prosecutor's office and the university hospital. This full-scale exercise – with the simulation of a runway excursion – is organized under the aegis of the prefecture. And if it will not cause disruptions to air traffic, it will, however, cause the closure of the road between the Ville-au-Denis roundabout, in Bouguenais, and the Route de la Forêt, in Bouaye, from 5:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. A diversion will be set up via the RD723, the La Montagne interchange and the Paimboeuf road. Bus line 88 will be diverted towards this last axis.
