Agents from my administration went there to examine the sheep and take saliva samples for genetic analysis. According to initial findings, some elements suggest a wolf attack, others a dog attack. The results of genetic analyzes which are expected at the end of next week should clarify the diagnosis.

If genetics were to confirm that it is indeed a wolf, it would most likely be a wolf in the dispersal phase, which would only be passing through the region. Indeed, no other evidence of a certain presence in the Chimacian region has been collected since the existence of the wolf network. No other attack has been reported to the Wolf Network in this area since the Cul-des-sarts attack.

I am well aware of the impact of these attacks on breeders, whether they are caused by wolves or not. Strong measures must be put in place to deal with it. The evaluation and follow-up to the wolf network are therefore very important. I also decided to call on an expert within my office to focus on this.”

We are therefore still waiting for the genetic results, to see if this is the first appearance of the wolf in this area, since 1861. It was then at a place called Haut Marais, recalled the socialist deputy.
