The Respire association hopes to see the arrival of a peaceful delivery zone in the capital in the coming years. The objective would be to reduce pollution by ultimately excluding thermal delivery vehicles from Parisian streets.

After the ZTL, the ZLA? Following the establishment of the Limited Traffic Zone in the very center of the capital, the Respire association, which works to improve air quality, is proposing this Tuesday, November 5, the creation of a Zone peaceful delivery in the capital.

“With Clean Cities, we are unveiling our new study on the impact of goods transport on air pollution in , solutions exist. Our report recommends setting up a Peaceful Delivery Zone to reduce pollution and protect the inhabitants”, indicates the association on X.

According to its general director, Tony Renucci, this new zone would aim to change tomorrow's deliveries in Paris by ultimately banning thermal delivery vehicles, in favor of other “very low emissions”, electric or hydrogen ones.

“This is not a questioning of deliveries,” assures the latter on our antenna, “we are not saying that we must stop them but transform them,” he explains on the set of BFM Paris Île-de- .

A wish soon to be voted on at City Hall?

Tony Renucci assures us, according to a survey carried out by the association with Opinion Way in June 2024, 68% of Parisians believe that deliveries have a negative impact on pollution and 78% are calling for more action from the Parisian municipality.

“Delivery vehicles represent less than 20% of overall traffic in Paris and up to 40% of the contribution to the city's pollution,” denounces the general director of the Respire association.

Although he claims to have had “benevolent” discussions with all the political groups at the capital's town hall, Tony Renucci calls on elected officials to “move from benevolence to action”. In particular with the desire to see the next Paris council “vote a wish” in this sense.

In particular, he recommends, in the coming years, a gradual establishment of the ZLA with a ban on thermal delivery vehicles from 4 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. every day before, ultimately, their total banishment from Parisian public spaces.

According to the Respire association press release, citing a study by Clean Cities, more than 30 cities in Europe have already taken measures to set up peaceful delivery zones. This is the case of Amsterdam and Brussels.
