The former elected official died at the age of 76 following cancer, this Tuesday, November 5, at Gap hospital where he had been treated for several weeks.
The former mayor of Vars (Hautes-Alpes), Jean-Pierre Boulet, died this Tuesday, November 5 in the morning at Gap hospital, BFM DICI learned. Aged 76, the councilor had been fighting pancreatic cancer for several weeks.
A month ago, he was hospitalized and had been in palliative care for several days. “He could have left earlier, but he hung on and fought. As usual…”, his wife Anne-Marie told BFM DICI.
Three years at the head of Vars
Mayor of Vars between 2014 and 2017, Jean-Pierre Boulet spent his entire career in the Jura as director of a metallurgy factory.
Knight in the National Order of Merit, he decided to retire peacefully in Vars where he quickly became involved in political life. A flawless three-year commitment praised by many people who worked with Jean-Pierre Boulet.
This desire to move the station could also have irritated some local figures in Guillestrois, starting with the historic mayor of Vars, Pierre Eyméoud, with whom he maintained a publicly known enmity.
Jean-Pierre Boulet leaves behind a wife, two children, Jérôme and Anne-Sophie, as well as five grandchildren, Gaspard, Joséphine, Alice, Charles and Clémentine.
