Organized in partnership with Committee 31, the “Amateur Rugby Trophies” return for a new edition in the department.
For the Regional 3 player, four players were nominated by the jury. Now it's up to you to vote (at the bottom of the page)!
Benjamin Barral (39 years old, 2nd line, Sainte-Foy-de-Peyrolières)
“Iconic captain” of the USSF, he slips with second degree, Benjamin Barral is part of the furniture with his twin brother. Last year was a transitional season in which he began to pass the baton to the younger players, he who will celebrate his 40th birthday and his 20th anniversary of rugby for the 60th anniversary of the club. Club of which he was president, manager of the association, but also “recruiter” of volunteers. Captain of the field rather than the locker room, he has been telling his wife for several years that he is hanging up his boots. But the heart has its reasons that reason ignores.
Mathieu Barral (39 years old, 2nd line, Sainte-Foy-de-Peyrolières)
And with Benjamin, Mathieu, the twin, the other pillar of the club. Fully assuming his role as “dad in the team”, he remembers that last season was good even if he would have liked to be more present… Professional obligations oblige. Second row like his brother, he also wore the hat of club president. A lover of the thankless job of defender, he should also have given up the apron last year. But for both of them, rugby is more than a sport, US Sainte-Foy is a part of them. Grateful to those who stayed when everything was bad, he now wants to pass it on.
Timothé Doumeng (33 years old, rear, Hers Lauragais)
Family and friends, that’s how we can sum up fullback Timothé Doumeng’s season. A real group of friends, and this was seen in the club's results: “quarter-finalist in Occitanie, eighth-finalist in France, it was a golden season with a good atmosphere. It’s been a long time since the club had experienced this, and it was a pleasure for me to take part in it,” he assures, a bit nostalgically. Especially since he played with his two brothers last year, all under the watchful eye of his dad, co-president. Returning to the fold 3 years ago, he was one of the first to shake things up when the club was going under at the start of the season.
Arnaud Dardenne (35 years old, 3rd line, XV de la Save)
Last year was supposed to be his last season, but the carpenter is back for another year! “We follow our friends.” At 35, he is sure, this season will be his last, the body says stop. He knows it, he gave what he had to give to rugby, he now wants to benefit from his friends on the field, but also to pass it on! “When we were young, we had elders who taught us, so I assume that at my age it's my turn to explain things. At least follow the values of the club that I will always have in my heart,” he concludes to bow out.
