Villeneuve-sur-Lot. The season starts today in Sangruère

There was a little apprehension but also impatience in Alice Cassany’s mouth at the start of the week. Because this Saturday afternoon (4 p.m.), it will be the very first meeting of the horse racing season in Sangruère with an unusual schedule and semi-night races. “We are trying an experiment that was already carried out around twenty years ago to conquer a new family audience” says the young president of the Villeneuve horse racing society.

And for the mayonnaise to set, for the test to be transformed, it was first necessary to pamper the track. A final mower on Wednesday, the irrigation system turned on and the grass ring is ready to open its doors this weekend to welcome all visitors. “The little heatwaves of the last few days also helped us to benefit from a nice track.” All the ingredients therefore seem to be there for the three shots of a new horse racing season on the banks of the Lot. “We will also have good horses since I have a renowned stable in Calais which will make the long journey” continues Alice. In an exceptional case, no less than 10 races will be on the program and race enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice (free entry from 7 p.m.). Also with free entertainment to make this day even more attractive. This is how enthusiasts of the equine industry will be able to learn about taking bets but also take part in a guided tour of the racecourse. As for the little ones, they can let off steam on the inflatable structures, go on pony rides or stop at the makeup and coloring workshops. Finally, the evening at Sangruère will end in style with a concert with the group “les Brigadiers” who will try to ignite this sports site. It is also possible to dine at the slopeside restaurant by booking on 06 38 84 54 37.
