In this first week of November, men's health is taking center stage in Lot-et-Garonne. According to Gilles Petit, Movember/CerHom ambassador, the subject “is not often highlighted by health institutions and politicians. However, the figures are alarming: in France, one in eight men are affected by prostate cancer. »
The man therefore wanted to organize two evenings for the general public, which would allow this theme to be discussed. “On November 8, we will be in Sainte-Colombe-en-Bruilhois. Then we meet in Sainte-Livrade on the 9th at 8:30 p.m., at the Charles-de-Cacqueray multipurpose room, in partnership with the Lion's Club. »
On the program: theater and debate on the theme “Movember, if your prostate could talk to you.” » The objective: to challenge men and women during a fun evening, through a comedy – “Radical”, by David Friszman – “which deals with the detection, care and cure of prostate cancer” .
Humor and delicacy
The interpretation by the company La Clef des Champs will be followed by a debate “to raise awareness among spectators, in the presence of general practitioners, urologists, oncologists, but also through patient testimonies. » The various supports and professionals present in the department will also be discussed to provide support if necessary.
“Radical” is a piece that “plays down male cancers. » A story combining humor and sensitivity on masculinity, illness and the couple, which traces the journey of a patient seeking to reconnect with himself and those around him. “He learns to continue to live with the news of the illness and its repercussions on his daily life that is disrupted, but which continues,” underlines Gilles Petit, who hopes to raise awareness among the widest possible audience.
At the end of the Livradaise evening (free), onion soup and glass of wine will be on the menu (for a fee of 5 euros).
