Mathias learns that he is the sole heir of a mysterious American sect, the Veritanist Church. He will receive 100 million dollars… on one condition: bring together at least 5,000 followers in less than 6 months. The solution? Become a Guru…

“Guru explores how a seemingly ordinary man becomes a convinced preacher. Inspired by the trajectory of infamous gurus such as Rael or the creators of the Order of the Solar Temple, this piece is a satire of religious indoctrination. Through this theme, current excesses in society are addressed, such as conspiracy, the rise of extremes or even media hype. It was important to us to highlight these issues through humor, and a story accessible to all, without neglecting the sacred, religious iconography, or the issues of psychological change. operated on the characters. We therefore chose to create a comedy that gradually slides into drama. The character of Mathias perfectly embodies this trajectory. Cornered by his own lies and the disintegration of his social relationships, he will have no other choice than to turn to the precepts of the sect he promotes, to the point of losing himself in them. From an ordinary boy suffering from heartbreak, he will become a charismatic leader. Like Raël, whose behavior and ideals have sadly evolved since his first speech, Mathias will let himself be intoxicated by the power he has over his “faithful” and no longer know what to invent to manipulate them. and achieve its goals. It is a quest for power and a spiral towards madness that awaits this hero who is, at first glance, harmless. The show adopts an absurd style with illuminated, squeaky, colorful characters. An ambient madness which allows us to point out the faults of our society with a comical and offbeat tone.” – Suzanne Gardeux & François Aubagnac

The press talks about it:
