This should avoid long and costly journeys for asylum seekers. The National Court of Asylum (CNDA), based in , is available in four new territorial chamberssince September 2024. These new rooms are installed in , , and . In 2023, the CNDA issued more than 66,000 decisions.

In Haute-Garonne, around 3,400 asylum requests were filed in 2023, according to OFPRA, out of a total of 142,649 applications throughout .

First hearings in November

THE first hearings will be held from this month of November, with a permanent president, eight rapporteurs, a head of chamber and five clerks. Eight temporary presidents will also be appointed. Collegiate cases will be judged by three presidents accompanied by sixteen assessors specializing in asylum law.

Asylum seekers residing in will therefore automatically be heard by the Toulouse chamber, unless they are from of a country “where the political situation is particularly complex“, specifies the CNDA. This concerns Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Iraq, Libya, Rwanda, Syria, Ukraine, the Palestinian territories and Yemen.
