Finally. The second phase of work for optical fiber is underway in Bréel (Orne), almost a year and a half after the first phase.

“It’s important,” assures Gilles Petit, the mayor of the delegated municipality of Athis-Val-de-Rouvre. “The telephone exchange is located behind the town hall. If we moved away from this central point, we would lose lots of flow. »

A large part of the village concerned

This second period of work concerns the road which leaves the village to go towards Sainte-Honorine-la-Guillaume, and the following places: the courtyard of Bréel, the Val-Fermé, the Étre-aux-Mores, the Ruisseau and the Étre-aux -Gislains.

“We will say that the first part represented 50% of the whole of Bréel, and that this second phase is equivalent to 30%,” estimates Gilles Petit. A large part of the village will now be connected to optical fiber.

A considerable change measured

” It is a real revolution in the countryside. The digital divide will narrow and it’s about time,” says the elected official. “The first phase affected a population which already had a good flow rate, but this will change the comfort of use. The places were very poorly served before. »

To support his remarks, Gilles Petit suggests measuring the figures. No comparison is possible: “we go from 17 to more than 225 Mbit/s… it's considerable. »

This second phase of work for the optical fiber is about to be concluded, after only ten days.
