On October 29, the Interdepartmental Union for the Sanitation of the Agglomeration (SIAAP) and Veolia, which together operate the Seine Valenton plant (94), inaugurated on the site the largest production unit for biomethane from sewage sludge in . The biomethane will be injected into the GrDF network; a first for the union.

SIAAP and Veolia, united within the single-operation semi-public company SIVAL which operates the Seine Valenton plant, presented the new equipment built on the second largest French wastewater treatment plant which treats 600,000 m3 every day3 of waste water. Requiring an investment of 18.5 million euros and two years of study and work, this project enabled the construction of the largest biomethane production unit from sanitation in France, as well as the modernization of the existing biogas sector.
