Mourning, astonishment, upheaval: more than once during this year, the news has devastated the inhabitants of Indre. A look back at some of these legal cases and these news items which marked the department in 2024.
February 16. Convicted of the murder of Camille Abrantes
Camille Abrantes, 52, lost his life on rue de la Poste, in Châteauroux, one night in May 2022. Accused of having stabbed him, Serge Harris was sentenced to 22 years of criminal imprisonment by the Assize Court of ‘Indre following a three-day trial on Friday February 16.

March 30. Residents with their feet in the water
During the night of Wednesday March 29 to Thursday March 30, water levels suddenly rose to almost 1.5 m. Along the Anglin, many houses were flooded and it took weeks to repair the damage.
That day, two people were swept away by water when the driver tried to pass a submerged road in Concremiers. Firefighters-divers were able to extract them from the car, unharmed.
April 19. Doctor convicted of rape
Doctor Jacques Oslina, a former general practitioner based in Châteauroux, was sentenced on Friday April 19, 2024 by the Indre Assize Court to eleven years of criminal imprisonment. The investigation began in 2020, following a report, and made it possible to establish facts of sexual assault and rape on twenty-four of its patients, including women under guardianship or guardianship. During a search, videos shot by the doctor himself using his cell phone were found. Images which reveal part of the alleged facts including the rape of a patient.
April 27. Murder of Matisse Marchais, 15 years old, an earthquake
At the turn of 2025, otters still adorn shop windows, a daily reminder to passers-by of the tragedy that occurred on Saturday April 27. A murder that the Castelroussins do not want to forget. Matisse Marchais, a 15-year-old apprentice cook and son of well-known restaurateurs in town, was killed by several stab wounds.
In the streets of Châteauroux, the white march organized in honor of the teenager brought together nearly 8,000 people on May 4. The suspect’s mother is also accused of violence against vulnerable people. His trial is expected in 2025.
May 26. Mehdi Bourahla, a murder with still unclear circumstances
In an apartment in the Saint-Jean district, Mehdi Bourahla, 43, was found dead, with several stab wounds. Several suspects were arrested at the scene. A man and a woman were placed in pre-trial detention following their custody and the investigation continues. The victim was known for his criminal record, particularly related to drug trafficking. The circumstances of the murder could not, at the time of the events, be established with certainty. The death of Mehdi Bourahla raised numerous donations which made it possible to finance his funeral.
At work, a deadly year
Rémi Rabier’s life ended at the age of 21, Friday April 19, 2024, while he was working on a green space project at a private home in Mézières-en-Brenne. His death, the first publicized work accident of the year in the department, left Indian rugby in mourning. Rémi Rabier was both a player for Racc and the Buzançais club.
Other workplace accidents occurred during the year.
Thursday October 3, a 49-year-old man died when he came to remove an excavator from his construction site on the Eurocast foundry site, in Poinçonnet. The ramp of his trailer gave way during loading. He was manager of an earthmoving company based in Velles. Friday, December 13, a 50-year-old man died in Pont-Chrétien-Chabenet on a pruning site.
Monday December 16, 2024, Dominique Tourat was found unconscious in an empty silo while he was inside cleaning the structure. He was unable to be resuscitated by emergency services.
