The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces (ISF) announced on Thursday that it had arrested, on December 31, two men suspected of setting fire to a Christmas tree in Nini Square, in Tripoli, on December 24.
In fact, on December 24, an unknown person threw an incendiary object at the tree, partially burning it. The ISF investigation led to the identification of two suspects: ARZ (Lebanese, born in 1998), a repeat offender in cases of drugs, alcohol and vandalism, and WA (Lebanese, born in 2003).
The search led to their arrest in the Bab el-Ramel district of Tripoli on December 31. The first admitted to having burned the tree at the request of the second, for a sum of money which allowed him to buy the incendiary material. The second said he participated in this action in cooperation with the first. Their case was transferred to justice.
