Nicolas, a 22-year-old Rugby player and member of the same club as Thomas, killed almost a year ago in Crépol, died this Saturday after a shooting in a nightclub. Right-wing elected officials are already reacting strongly to this new drama.
Like a tragic echo of the death of Thomas, killed almost a year ago during a ball in Crépol. This Saturday, November 2, Nicolas, 22 years old, a young rugby player who played in the same club Rugby Club Romans-Péage (RCRP) and who was originally from Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme) where Thomas attended school, died as a result of his injuries received during a shooting which broke out during the night from Thursday to Friday in the parking lot of a nightclub near Valencia.
“An entire city devastated by this new tragedy, the consequence of a barbaric, gratuitous and totally senseless act”lamented on X Marie-Hélène Thoraval, various right-wing mayor of Romans-sur-Isère, on Thibaut Monnier, MP for Drôme and member of Marion Maréchal's Idabilité Liberté party, reacted strongly: “State laxity killed Nicolas as it killed Thomas, Lola, Philippine and so many others, and he will kill even more French people if we do not react”.

At the National Rally and more broadly on the right of the political spectrum, many elected officials have already reacted to the death of young Nicolas. “Once again, our youth are the tragic victims of state laxity. Nicolas had his life ahead of him. My most sincere thoughts go to his family and loved ones.”wrote on X the RN deputy of 5e constituency of Vaucluse, Catherine Rimbert. “Justice for Nicholas”reacted for his part his colleague from the 3rd constituency of the Somme, Matthias Renault. “He is the new victim of the daily barbarity which is falling on France.wrote Jordan Bardella, President of the RN, on X.
The deputy for Alpes-Maritimes, Éric Ciotti, believes that France is sinking into “the spiral of violence” and denounces the government's opposition to the reinstatement of minimum sentences and double punishment.
The vice-president of LR and senator of Bouches-du-Rhône Valérie Boyer also shared her “emotion and (his) anger » : « I think of Nicolas, barely 22 years old, who has just succumbed to his injuries after being shot in the head. His crime: waiting to enter a nightclub in Saint-Péray, near Crépol, he played rugby in the same club as Thomas Perotto ».

“Nicolas was 22 years old and wore the same jersey as Thomas. How many innocent victims and broken families will it take for the State to decide to protect its children?declared MEP and spokesperson for the RN Julie Rechagneux. “It is unbearable to see our youth victims of the cowardice of French leaders who refuse to make the necessary decisions”judged Nicolas Dupond-Aignan, President Debout la France and former presidential candidate. At this stage of the investigation, the exact cause of the shooting is unknown, but a police source cited by AFP specifies that it is linked to drug trafficking. The shooter is still on the run.
Friday evening, another young man aged 18 was shot and killed in Valencia. This death could be linked to the shooting in Saint-Péray which caused the death of Nicolas. The daily Minister for Security Nicolas Daragon, also mayor of Valence, went this Friday to the Polygone, the district of the city where the second tragedy took place, with the prefect of Drôme. “We are at what the Minister of the Interior described as a tipping point. Are we there too in Valencia? like in many places in France. Ultra violence manifests itself every time there are events from now on. There are no more limits, declared the minister to France Bleu. Nicolas Daragon mentioned the comments of the tenant of Beauvau, Bruno Retailleau, who mentioned on Friday a “tipping point” and a risk of «mexicanisation» of France after another shooting, in Poitiers, which cost the life of a 15-year-old teenager.
