A collective of residents from Vert, in , opposes the installation of a 5G antenna. A decision taken, according to them, without their agreement. The town hall supports the project and does not intend to abandon it.

5G is making the residents of Vert, a village of 850 inhabitants in Yvelines, cringe. Launched by Bouygues Télécom in 2021, the project for a 30-meter 5G antenna should soon see the light of day in the town, which arouses the indignation of a collective of residents.

In a few months, Marie-Christine, a local resident, could have a disturbing presence in her landscape. “You see the big tree in the background and on the other side, our fence, it will be right in front,” she describes, pointing to the future location of the antenna just a few meters from her house.

“Our house loses 30% of its value immediately, so that still poses a problem and we were told that it was not worth waiting for compensation,” she denounces, at the microphone of BFM Ile-de-.

A project supported by the town hall

The antenna should be installed on a football field, near homes and a school. Determined, some residents set up a collective. They recently launched a petition, which received over 80 signatures.

“What we regret is that we were only informed of the project after everything had been decided. The population was presented with a fait accompli,” laments Eliane Georges, another resident and member of the collective.

An anger all the more intense since the residents did not receive the support of the mayor. The town hall defends itself and explains that it is its citizens who asked for better network coverage.

“There needs to be a majority that emerges and that is sufficient of Green people so that we can actually talk about it again in council and see the council's position,” specifies Jocelyne Reynaud-Léger, mayor (SE) of Green.

For the moment, the town hall does not intend to abandon the project.
