Friday evening, the town of Rillieux-la-Pape, in the metropolis of Lyon, was the scene of incivility. Two TCL buses were set on fire and police officers were targeted with projectiles.
Another turbulent night took place in Rillieux-la-Pape during the night from Friday to Saturday. After car fires that occurred on Halloween night on October 31, this time it was TCL buses that were targeted. Around 9 p.m., a “twenty people” would have stoned them before setting them on fire, according to the prefecture that we contacted this morning.
This fire required the evacuation of an entire building. Residents were able to return to their homes in the evening.
An injured police officer, the mayor promises a “relentless reaction”
Dispatched to the scene, several police officers came under projectile fire. One of them was injured in the face and was in relative emergency. The situation returned to calm after the intervention of the CRS around 11 p.m. On its X account (formerly Twitter), the Rhône prefecture has “strongly condemned the criminal violence committed” and announced the deployment of CRS reinforcements this weekend.
“Investigations are underway to find the perpetrators who will have to answer for their actions”indicated the prefecture on X. For his part, Mayor Alexandre Vincendet promises “an implacable reaction” following the “unacceptable violence”. In a press release published yesterday on the municipality's Facebook page, the municipality indicated that “all parents responsible for the education of their children will be convened in the coming days by the Council of Family Rights and Duties established several years ago by the municipal majority of Rillieux-la-Pape”. They could see their social assistance suspended.
