It is one of the latest businesses to open in Barbizon (Seine-et-Marne) in June, and which will delight all foodies. Via Veneto, a traditional ice cream parlor whose manufacturing workshop is based in Orgenoy (Boissise-le-Roi), has opened a new store in Barbizon, after leaving Fontainebleau. Before the Barbizon opening, however, they continued to supply their depositaries as the Chaillotine farm of Chailly-en-Bière.

Traditional ice cream parlor

“Here, everything is homemade,” explains Patricia Duverger, the founder of the family business. We work as much as possible with local products: the organic milk comes from the Moigny-sur-École farm (Essonne). » Of course, local sourcing is more difficult for certain ingredients such as dried fruits which come from Italy or certain exotic fruits.

According to the manager, the welcome from customers at Barbizon, after four months of opening, has been exceptional. “We immediately got positive feedback,” she smiles. Visitors expected to find Italian ice cream machines, whereas we are a real traditional ice cream parlor. But we don’t just make ice cream in pots or cones: we also offer it in pastries.”

And it's not Flavia, the bosses' daughter, who is going to contradict her mother. Trained by her mother and Thierry, her husband, she completed a CAP in pastry, then specialized in chocolate and frozen desserts. “Now she is learning how to manage the store,” continues Patricia Duverger. Ultimately, she will have to replace us. »

But with autumn and the first frosts approaching, will the store be in hibernation? “Oh no,” replies Flavia Duverger. We are open every weekend and the week before the holidays. We continue to make ice creamof course, but also frozen desserts: Norwegian omelettes, Vacherins, pavlovas and logs. »

The brand also offers cookies, muffins and waffles, accompanied by real Italian chocolate. Ideal for recovering from a walk in the forest! The managers are also already thinking about next season and are looking for an employee to strengthen the team from April 2025. A real family affair and a gourmet cultural exchange, because the name of the boutique and the company, Via Veneto, is a homage to Patricia Duverger’s region of origin, Veneto…
