After Rennes, Cavaillon or Marseille, it is now Poitiers which reinforces Bruno Retailleau in his desire to make the fight against drug trafficking a national cause. The Minister of the Interior reacted very quickly and very firmly to the shooting which occurred on the evening of Thursday October 31 in the Couronneries district. Five teenagers aged 15 and 16, one of whom is between life and death, were shot and injured. The police intervened after gunfire in front of a restaurant in a working-class area of the city, finding the first person injured on the ground, shot in the head.
The prefect of Vienne “calls for calm” and sends police reinforcements
“I think we are at a tipping pointsaid Bruno Retailleau on Friday, November 1st. These brawls last night, these five injuries, these shootings, this is not happening in South America. It takes place in Rennes, it takes place in Poitiers, in this Western France that I know well because I come from there, which was once renowned for its tranquility. We are at a tipping point and I think that the choice we have today is a choice between a general mobilization or the Mexicanization of the country.”

A drug-related shooting according to the first elements
The shooters fired shortly before 11 p.m. at a kebab shop, known to be a meeting point for young local residents. A 15-year-old boy is seriously injured after being hit in the head. Two other minors were treated on the spot and two others aged 16 went to the hospital on their own. They claim to have been injured by the same shots.
According to the prefect of Vienne, Jean-Marie Girier, the Couronneries district, known as the city's priority district, is indeed home to two or three deal points, but it is not known to be under the control of traffickers. If the first elements suggest a drug-related shooting, there will be an investigation to find out the precise causes of these shootings.
