Dominique Crouzier and Belkacem Tadbird, two runners from La Gambade Rochefortaise realized a dream that they had been preparing for two years: to run an ultratrail together and not the least since it is the very demanding “Bourbon” course, in Reunion. It was the first for Belkacem Tadbird and the last for Dominique Crouzier!
The Bourbon is a little over 100 km with an elevation gain of more than 6,300 meters; it's a race that lasted almost two days and two nights! The Rochefortais runners left with their families and were able to take advantage of this event to do a little sightseeing and discover (or rediscover for Dominique Crouzier) the fabulous landscapes of the island.
The most difficult, recognizes Dominique Crouzier, “It's these two nights and the very significant differences in altitude but the beauty of the landscapes helped us a lot as did the encouragement from the locals, we really have the impression that Reunion is all alive for this race”.
At the start of this ultratrail, there were 1,260 runners. Dominique Crouzier arrived 808th overall and 20th in master 5 (60 to 64 years old) in 34h58'. As for Belkacem Tadbird, he came 834th overall and 64th in master 3 (50 to 54 years old) in 35h27'.
For Dominique Crouzier, it is not the last race but the last ultratrail. “I’m staying, but over shorter distances”explains the veteran. The two men will run the Bonnieux Trail Marathon (Vaucluse) together again on November 16.
