Since 2017, idGarages.com has compared average prices for car repair services between French regions. And if for several years, a trend towards the homogenization of prices has been confirmed. Its latest study reveals a gap of 11 points between the most expensive region and the cheapest region. The most expensive is Ile-de-France. And the cheapest… Occitania.
In the 8e edition of its barometer of automobile repair prices in France*, the leading site for comparison and online appointment booking, notes an average change in automobile repair prices “limited” to +7.64% per year. compared to 2023 (compared to 11.51% over the period 2022/2023).
Parts cost increases much more than labor
So everything increases, but a little less than before. Inflation “always driven by the increase in the price of parts, particularly braking and overhaul”. Because the cost of mechanics' labor is increasing less quickly than inflation (+4.88% over one year).
Et Occitanie therefore becomes the cheapest region in 2024 to maintain its
vehicle (against Burgundy-Franche-Comté in 2023).
Clutch discs, pads and kits cost less here than anywhere else
At the national level, a general overhaul which cost on average 294 euros in 2023 rises to 332.87 euros in 2024, an increase of 13.22 euros. It is not in Occitania that it is the least expensive, it is in Normandy (319.13 euros). But Occitanie presents a general bill lower than the others.
Here are the main figures to remember:
- General Overhaul: €320.74 in Occitanie, compared to €332.87 nationally. Third lowest price, the highest being in PACA: 351.24 euros.
- Front discs and pads: €374.78 in Occitanie compared to €396.83 on average in France Lowest national price, the highest being Burgundy-Franche-Comté: 409.09 euros.
- Kit de distribution : €634.38 compared to €651.95 nationally. Second lowest price, the most expensive being Ile-de-France: 702.66 euros).
- Front axle parallelism: €75.60 in Occitania compared to €77.76 in France. The most expensive is in Ile-de-France: 91.48 euros.
- Engine descaling: €93.19 in Occitanie compared to €103.32 in France and 131.26 in PACA.
- Kit d’embrayage : €925.43 in Occitania compared to €960.04 in France. It is the cheapest region for this, far behind Ile-de-France (1,019 euros).
- Front shock absorbers: €545.35 in Occitanie compared to €562.91 in France and 597.32 in the Centre-Val-de-Loire region.
- Electronic diagnostics: €57.53 in Occitanie compared to €59.29 in France and 73.26 euros in PACA.
- Air conditioning overhaul: €183.09 in Occitania compared to €182.95 in France. This is the only area where prices are higher in the region than the national average.
*This ranking was established by comparing average prices by region to the national average price, based on 2 million quotes generated in the first half of 2024 on idGarages.com. These quotes were carried out in more than 4,300 independent garages, brand agents, car centers, multi-brand stores, throughout France.
