A man, aged around sixty, lost his life yesterday evening in the town of Calenzana, in Balagne.
According to our initial information, André Guerini, a trader in Calvi, was shot dead while he was driving his car, parked at the entrance to the village, near his home.
The victim comes from a well-known family of traders from Balagne. One of its members is a majority municipal councilor at Calvi town hall.
It was neighbors who raised the alarm after hearing explosions.
Numerous bullet holes were reportedly noted by the gendarmerie research section and the judicial police, in charge of the investigation, opened by the Bastia public prosecutor's office for homicide by an organized gang.
Less than a month ago, on the night of October 6 to 7, another man, Massimo Ponchelet, was shot several times in the center of Ile-Rousse, about ten kilometers from Calenzana.
At this stage of the investigation, no link has been made between the two homicides.
