At the last municipal council of The Mountain (Loire-Atlantique)Julien Boibouvier, from the La Montagne pour tous group, asked for “information on the social monitoring put in place by the town hall services and associations with these families”.
Since June 10, thirty-five Roma families, evicted from a field in Nantes north, have settled around the football field of the secular association of La Montagne.
Julien Bétus, solidarity assistant, took stock of this issue.
As soon as they were installed, we collaborated with the metropolitan services and the owner, the secular association. We ensured that the families, 61 people, including 21 minors, had water, electricity and sanitation. A medical service intervened from the first days. »

Concerning social monitoring, secular friendship, Nantes metropolis, via technical and financial support, the Les Forges association and the CCAS are at work.
Three children are in kindergarten, two in elementary school and three in middle school. This work allowed the maintenance of a cordial link with the families. This ensures that families benefit from decent living conditions while maintaining public peace. »
Several avenues are being considered to free up the land. » We work with families on rehousing solutions. There will be no manual expulsion without rehousing. This is not a solution that we support, nor secular friendship. »
What solutions?
Julien Bétus announces that he is working on several areas: “The search for land in a town likely to accommodate people, SAS-type social housing from which certain families could benefit, temporary access land for other families, and finally some families could leave for other regions or return to their country. »
