Good news for users of the Houilles swimming pool (Yvelines), closed since September 26, 2024 after major damage to the roof: it should reopen no later than Sunday November 10as the City confided this Thursday, October 31 to 78 news.
A commissioned specialist recently conducted a in-depth expertise and confirmed the absence of any risk to the public, therefore authorizing the reopening of the establishment.
” It's a relief to be able to reopen quickly. We were optimistic, but we had to be cautious,” expresses Hadji Sekkai, deputy mayor responsible for Sports, Social Cohesion and Entrepreneurship.
“The company is currently on site removing the scaffolding. It will take five to seven to remove everything and two days of cleaning. »
It has now been more than a month since the municipal facility – which fell into the hands of the City in 2017 – was forced to close. A blister on the ceilingfilled with water, had exploded, fortunately without causing any human harm. For several years, the building's roof had been exposed to waterproofing problems.
The City assures that it will not have to pay anything
It remains to be seen who will have to pay for the work. As the swimming pool was built in 2014, the ten-year guarantee could have been triggered just in time, according to the municipality.
“We had meetings with all the companies that worked on this swimming pool, accompanied by their legal representatives. We are hopeful of carrying out the work necessary for a complete restoration, without spending a euro. »
Especially since the ten-year guarantee has been activated for the entire swimming pool. This would allow in particular that the outdoor paddling poolwhich has never been used, is rehabilitated. “All of this is being analyzed,” tempers the elected official.
THE future work will they cause another temporary closure? “We do not yet have the necessary information on this point,” says Hadji Sekkai.
Compensation will be offered to users
The first to be impacted, the various users will be offered compensation for the problems caused by the closure. “We will let them know quickly,” underlines Hadji Sekkai. The president of swimming club is already aware, so that he can organize himself. »
The elected official continues: “All the subscriptions will be extended the number of days during which the swimming pool was closed. And if it falls on the summer holidays, we will extend the whole month of September. We will do it on a case by case basis so that no one is harmed. »
