He had been stealing and then selling metals and multimedia equipment for many years without the knowledge of his employer. A 43-year-old man was taken into custody this Tuesday morning in the offices of investigators at the Mantes-la-Jolie police station. He ended up admitting the facts.
At the start of the week, this employee of the Aptima association, an integration structure which manages several recycling centers in the Seine valley in Yvelines, was the subject of two complaints. Both filed by his employer, both supported by video surveillance images directly implicating him. Videos in which we can clearly see the employee loading different metals and multimedia objects into a utility vehicle.
According to a source close to this affair, the man was hired in 2015. He became a union representative on behalf of the CGT and a member of the Aptima CSE. He also allegedly opposed management during the installation of these cameras, denouncing a climate of suspicion within the structure.
The search carried out at his home allowed the police to seize a very large quantity of scrap metal: more than 850 kg of stripped copper ready for resale, but also 450 kg of taps – sought for brass – or even 160 kg of components electronic. All for damage estimated at 6,300 euros. The overall damage from its activity, spread over more than five years according to our information, remains to be assessed. However, one source mentions income that can reach several tens of thousands of euros per year.
Faced with the police, the Aptima employee, who admitted to thefts in around ten of the network's recycling centers, admitted to having “played and lost”. Released from police custody this Thursday, he was released and will be presented to court next March as part of an appearance on prior admission of guilt (CRPC).
